A four bedroom house completed last year on a wide corner lot in East Austin, built to make the most of a plot that gets sun for most of the day. The ground floor holds an open kitchen and dining space that runs the full depth of the house with sliding glass at the rear, and a separate snug behind it for when the main room is in use. Finishes are warm and simple, wide white oak boards, lime washed plaster in a soft chalk white, a kitchen in unlacquered brass and pale oak with a marble island. Four bedrooms sit upstairs off a proper hallway, the primary with its own bathroom in travertine. Outside there is a small heated plunge pool with a limestone surround, a covered dining area with an outdoor kitchen, and mature hackberries along the boundary that were kept during the build. A studio over the carport is wired and insulated and works as an office or a fifth bedroom.
