Restored 1962 Mid-Century Home in Allandale

A carefully restored single storey mid century modern house on a quiet street in Allandale, a few minutes from Burnet Road. The original 1962 structure is intact, a low flat pitched roof with deep overhanging eaves and exposed rafter tails, wrapped in horizontal cedar cladding and panels of pale limestone. Inside, the house has been opened up at the rear without losing its character. Wide plank white oak floors run through the living and dining space, where exposed Douglas fir beams meet white plaster walls and a black steel and pale brick fireplace anchors the room. A full wall of steel framed glazing looks out to mature live oaks and native prairie grass. The kitchen has been rebuilt in flat panel white oak with honed near black granite counters and a window over the sink to the garden. Three bedrooms sit along the quieter side of the plan, the largest opening directly onto a covered terrace. The bathroom keeps a period feel with small square tile and a wide vanity. A two car carport sits under the same roofline, and the garden is fully fenced with a gravel terrace under the oaks.
